Cinema in Europe is known to be more non-interventionist in representing sexuality and nudity but less tolerant in depicting bloodshed and violence. The cinemas in Europe are mostly produced by the government, the European Film Awards being designed exclusively for acclaiming the European film industry. The Cinema City in Norwich is a European art house cinema in Norwich at Norfolk that is about to be turned into a three-screen cinema as well as the first digital movie theatre outside the city of London. After its foundation during the mid 60s, the Cinema City made the first Regional Film Theatre of England. At present, a part of the City Screen Limited, the Cinema City is sited along the St. George’s Street in the famous Norwich Playhouse. AMC Cinemas changed impressively the history of European cinema by opening an American multiplex in England, for the first time in a country outside America. Located in Milton Keynes in England, the AMC Cinemas constructed and ran several multiplexes in the United Kingdom in places like Tamworth and Dudley. But its occupation by UCI, it returned to the European market on December 2001 with its launching of the AMC Great Northern in Manchester and them with the launching of the 12 screen cinema complex on the Broadway Plaza in Birmingham. Belonging to The Blackstone Group, the Cineworld Cinemas, a European chain of multiplex cinemas, runs 72 cinemas across the United Kingdom, 1 in St. Helier (Republic of Ireland), and one in Dublin (Jersey). The first movie theatre of this cinema chain in Europe opened on July 1996 in Stevenage. The Cineworld Cinemas operates the second biggest chain of cinemas in the United Kingdom having more than 800 screens and also owns the biggest multiplex in Ireland in terms of screens. The Cineworld, located on the Renfrew Street in Glasgow is the tallest movie theater in the world.
