Though cinema in Indonesia can be dated back to 1926 when the first silent film “Loetoeng Kasaroeng” was made by the directors L. Heuveldrop and G. Kruger with the Indonesian actors from the NV Java Film Company, its premier being held on the 31st of December in 1926. The Indonesian film industry was begun to be controlled by the Japanese occupiers in the Second World War period after its generation in the colonial period when Indonesia was under the control of the Dutch.
